Like a trusted pair of old jeans that have seen you through both good times and bad, faded indigo has a timeless style that works with any kind of interior scheme. Mix it with other bold and brash prints for a boho-chic edge, or keep everything else plain and simple for a subtle hint of relaxed beachy vibes.
This beautiful cushion is from new US-based online store, Heddle & Lamm, which opened its doors (well, figuratively speaking) in January this year. Specialising in beautiful cushions and throws made from vintage African textiles, you can just imagine my excitement when I clocked the shop and its founder, Rachel’s, gorgeous handiwork!
And if the lovely textiles weren’t enough to make you get your wallet out, 10 per cent of all profits go towards school fees for African children. Buying just one throw can send a child to school for a whole year. How’s that for providing the warm fuzzies just for shopping!?
I think this faded indigo design would work especially well against crisp, white bed linen. Throw a jute or sisal rug under the bed, and add some lush greenery and a natural wood bedside table and you’ll be rocking a relaxed space that is perfect for curling up with your favourite book and a nice cup of tea.
Alternatively, pair with a dark navy backdrop and some vibrant colour pops (I’m thinking neons – pink or yellow cushions would be pretty fabulous) and, boom, you’ve made a contemporary statement with a vintage textile. That’s versatility in action right there!
The close-up above shows just what a great faded denim effect this cushion has – I’m humming the tune to George Michael’s ‘Faith’ just writing about it. Love. Do take a look at the rest of Heddle & Lamm’s range of gorgeous indigo throws and cushions – you won’t be disappointed. Now where did I put my legwarmers….
Happy travels, and shopping
